Kathy is a Wisconsin native and has cheesemaking in her blood. Her father's family and grandfather owned and operated the Tustin Star Cheese Factory in Tustin, Wisconsin (see photo at left). Kathy and her family made the move to Door County on a seasonal basis in 2007. She has been in the hospitality industry for over 26 years, working with hotels - most recently Marriott International, Scottsdale Convention Bureau and as a corporate meeting professional. In 2000, Kathy took her love of confectionary that she shared with her mother and started her own gourmet chocolate business in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was fate that brought her to become a part of the Savory Spoon, when after taking a Chocolate Dreams class with Janice Thomas in the fall of 2006, her discussions with Janice developed into creating gourmet signature chocolates for the Savory Spoon, which are exclusive to our store locations. After 4 years of assisting in various parts of the operation, she left the corporate world to work full-time with Michael and Janice Thomas to develop the Schoolhouse Artisan Cheese store operations, online presence, and sales and marketing efforts.
We all look forward to meeting you in person and serving you with our LOVE for cheese!
